Eriksen’s collapse proves Humanity is on
In a Euro 2020 match between
Denmark and Finland, spectators and players stood watching the efforts done to rescue
Denmark midfielder Christian Eriksen's life after he had collapsed on the field. The player
received treatment at once, but the situation was bad at first.
Accordingly, UEFA said in a
statement that Eriksen was sent to a hospital and has been stabilized, while
the Denmark FA added that he was awake and undergoing some more examinations.
After this statement, the play resumed later on Saturday, following the request made by players of both teams. However, moments like this put everything in life into perspective.
In this regard, UEFA
president Aleksander Čeferin said in a statement: "I wish Christian a full
and speedy recovery and pray for his family to have strength and faith. At
these times, the unity of the football family is extremely strong and carries
the good wishes and prayers of everyone. I heard of fans of both teams chanting
his name, this is the supreme sense of humanity. It is football that is
beautiful and Christian plays it beautifully.
However, nothing is more beautiful here than what we have seen in terms of humanity and solidarity. Thank you all!
